A fleet for a sea nobody watches

Sail drones with two hundred days of endurance, built in a yard that already makes racing composites. Sold as sea days to public bodies, navies and energy operators. A seed round is in preparation.

The thesis

Why now, and why here

The Mediterranean is watched from ports, from satellites and from ships that cost by the hour. Nobody stays on the water for a season.

Uncrewed sail vessels changed that elsewhere. In the Pacific and the Indian Ocean they already run missions of months for navies and for science. In the Mediterranean the demand exists and the supplier does not.

Dual use is the business model, not a slogan. The same hull serves a marine protected area in spring and a navy in autumn. The yard, the control room and the logistics are shared, and the sea days are billed twice.

Revenue is recurring by design. A customer buys days, then buys more days. The fleet is the asset, the data is the product, and every hull that leaves the hangar adds capacity that is already sold or on option.

Why us

Five things that are hard to copy

  1. 01

    A racing composites yard

Clean room, autoclave, five-axis milling. The hull is built where America's Cup grade structures are built, not bought from a supplier.

  2. 02

    A sailor at the helm

A co-founder who has commanded vessels for a living. Two hundred days at sea is a seamanship problem before it is an engineering one.

  3. 03

Sardinia, in the middle of the basin

Cagliari sits on the route between Gibraltar and Suez, a day from Sicily and two from the Balearics. Base, launch and recovery in one place.

  4. 04

    A business that already exists

The yard invoices composite work for yachts and teams today. The drone is built on cash flow, not only on the round.

  5. 05

    One hull, two customers

Civil and defence configurations on the same platform. Development is paid once and sold twice.

Roadmap

From one prototype to forty hulls

Four steps, each with a date, a number of hulls and a milestone that can be checked.

  1. 2026Now

    Prototype at sea

The first Maistrale hull is built and tested off Sardinia. Endurance, station keeping and the acoustic payload are proven on real days at sea.

    • 1 hull
    • Sea trials
    • Payload proven
  2. 2027

    Pilot fleet and first contracts

Five hulls, the first sea-day contracts with a public body and an energy operator, and a defence trial under agreement.

    • 5 hulls
    • First contracts
    • Defence trial
  3. 2028

Twenty hulls and the control centre

A dedicated control centre in Cagliari, a second launch base on the mainland, and the first exclusive-fleet contract.

    • 20 hulls
    • Control centre
    • Second base
  4. 2029

    Forty hulls across the basin

Fleet coverage from the Balearics to the Ionian, with recurring sea-day revenue covering operations.

    • 40 hulls
    • Whole basin
    • Recurring revenue

Dates and hull counts are targets, not commitments. They move with the round and with sea trials.

Use of funds

Where the round goes

Most of it becomes hulls. The rest makes them useful.

  • Fleet: hulls, wings, batteries45%
  • Operations: control room, logistics20%
  • Sensors and payload integration15%
  • Team12%
  • Certification and compliance8%

The founders

Two paths that meet on the water

Co-founder, composites and engineering

Federico Meloni

Years in shipyards on carbon fibre structures and high-performance marine components, with work connected to iconic racing yachts and America's Cup level technologies.

  • Carbon fibre structures
  • Structural engineering
  • Racing yacht programmes

Co-founder, operations at sea

Luigi Kalb

A life at sea: regattas, professional sailing and the command of high-profile vessels. The sailor's view of what a hull has to survive for two hundred days.

  • Professional sailing
  • Vessel command
  • Offshore racing

Roles are those intended for the funded company.

A survey vessel sails for a week and costs by the hour. A sail drone stays out for a season and costs by the day. That is the whole business.

Questions

What investors ask first

What stage is the company at?

A working composites yard with revenue, and a naval drone at prototype stage. The first hull is built in the same hangar as the yard's racing work.

Who owns the technology?

The company. Hull, wing and payload integration are developed in house. Patents and design registrations are being filed as the prototype is completed.

What about regulation for uncrewed vessels?

Uncrewed surface vessels operate today in the Mediterranean under authorisations issued case by case. The pilot missions are designed with the authorities from the brief, and the roadmap includes certification work.

Who else does this?

Saildrone in the United States, Ocius in Australia, Seasats in California. None is based in the Mediterranean, and none builds where it operates.
