Weeks on station where a ship comes once

Water quality, protected areas, seagrass, illegal fishing. A sail drone stays for a season and costs a fraction of a survey day.

The point

Monitoring is a question of presence

A survey vessel gives you one perfect day. A protected area changes on the other three hundred and sixty-four.

Most environmental monitoring at sea is a snapshot: a campaign, a season, a report. What a regional agency or a protected area actually needs is the curve, not the point. When did the water warm, when did the boats come in, when did the meadow edge move.

A sail drone gives you the curve. It holds station for weeks, profiles the water every hour and logs every hull that passes, and it does it without a crew to bring home at night.

We deliver

What comes back from the water

  1. 01

    Water profiles

Temperature, salinity, oxygen, turbidity and chlorophyll from the surface to the seabed, every hour, at the points you choose.

    Hourly
  2. 02

    Seagrass edge

The lower limit of the posidonia meadow, measured with the echosounder and checked by the seabed camera, as a line on a chart.

    Chart
  3. 03

    Traffic and fishing log

Every vessel seen on AIS or camera, with time and position. Where the no-take zone was entered, and by whom.

    Daily
  4. 04

    Noise and cetacean detections

Underwater noise levels and acoustic detections of dolphins and whales, geolocated, for the sanctuary or the impact study.

    Near real time
  5. 05

    Continuous access

A dashboard with your credentials during the mission, and the full dataset at the end in the format your systems read.

    Always

Example

A mission as it would run

Example mission

Capo Carbonara posidonia

Six weeks over the seagrass meadows of the marine protected area at the south-eastern tip of Sardinia. The drone runs survey lines across the meadow edge, profiles the water above it every hour and logs every hull that enters the zone. The protected area receives the edge as a chart and the water as a time series.

How it runs

From a tender to a dataset

  1. 01

    Scope

We define the area, the parameters and the sampling with your technical office. The output is a mission plan and a number of sea days.

    Two weeks
  2. 02

    Procure

Sea days are a service, not equipment. That fits a services tender or a framework agreement, and we help write the technical annex.

    Your procedure
  3. 03

    Watch

The mission runs from our control room. Your office follows it on the dashboard and can ask for a change of plan.

    Every sea day
  4. 04

    Report

The dataset lands in your format, with the metadata a monitoring programme requires. A summary report follows within two weeks.

Questions

What public bodies ask

Does it disturb the animals it listens to?

No more than a sailing dinghy. There is no engine, no propeller and nothing that transmits under water. Listening is passive.

Can the data feed our existing systems?

Yes. Profiles, tracks and detections come as standard formats and as a live feed. The dataset is yours and stays on your infrastructure if you want it there.

How does a public body buy sea days?

As a monitoring service, with a technical annex that describes area, parameters and sea days. We have a draft annex for each line of work.

What happens in bad weather?

The drone runs for shelter on its own and resumes when the sea drops. Sea days lost to weather are not billed.

Tell us which stretch of coast

An area, a season and the parameters you report on. We come back with a mission plan and the sea days it takes.
